"I found myself in a dilemma. My entire family will be converging in London for what will likely be the biggest family event of my lifetime. My cousin will marry and the occasion will be very high class.  I will need to look good – very good. Being a bit of a fashion/clothing idiot I knew I needed some help.

"How was I supposed to know that one doesn’t mountain bike in button-downshirts? The stereotype that gay men are innately stylish is, in my case, unfortunately false.

Bonnie began our adventure bygiving me some “tough love” when it came to my wardrobe of comfortable, yet ultimately hideous, favorites and had me take more fashion chances–other colors outside of my usual palette, bolder patterns,non-khaki colored pants. We argued a lot (being friends, we do that anyway) but she forced me to take a look at the bigger picture of who I was and how I wanted to present myself to the world, finally succumbing to her iron Prada fist.
 
Now that she has lengthened my leash and allows me do some shopping on my own (with fairly good results, although my newly purchased Rainbow Bright sweatshirt is currently the fashion "elephant in the room"), I continue to be amazed at how many compliments I get on my appearance. I’m an elementary school teacher and the classroom moms rave daily about my attire.
